Melissa Hummel Received a SLU Spark!

Congratulations Melissa Hummel on the SLU Spark nomination. Melissa was nominated by Tonya Vernon for driving change and innovation.

"Melissa is a great role model for professional leadership!  Since my first day at SLU, she has been a great trainer, mentor, and friend.  I feel like she took me under her wing when I really did not have anyone to teach me the in's and out's, much less the basics of my position.  I know I can come to her with questions any time and she is always willing to help when she can.  Melissa is leading the organization of Program Coordinators into a group with a voice, and trying to help improve processes in relation to management and coordination of GME training programs.  She is a wonderful role-model for all of the new Program Coordinators that come into the university.  Thank you for everything Melissa!"

Kara Warren Received a SLU Spark!

Congratulations Kara Warren on the SLU Spark nomination. Kara was nominated by Alaina Baker-Nigh on serving others.

"Kara came in midyear as a new administrator in Biology and majorly assisted me (only slightly less new faculty) in correcting ordering snafus, allowing my students to conduct effective experiments in my lab course.  In particular, finding a cost-effective way to overnight a reagent single-handedly saved a student project.  Her resourcefulness has been a huge benefit, whether the problem was on the vendor end or an obstacle of my own making.  Thank you Kara for your rock-star work!"

Matt Krob Received a SLU Spark!

Congratulations Matt Krob on the SLU Spark nomination. Matt was nominated by Amelia Blanton Hibner on serving others.

"I've been working with Matt lately to get some logo images for the Women's Commission and he has been incredibly helpful. Prompt to return emails, ensuring I have multiple versions of the files to make sure it all works, and a joy overall. He's recently gone above and beyond that helping me identify some good printing companies to work with for a project. I'm so grateful for his recommendations and going out of his way to send those to me - which has saved me time, effort, and likely money! Thanks Matt!!!"

Mourad Halim Received a SLU Spark

Congratulations Mourad Halim on the SLU Spark nomination. Mourad was nominated by Peggy Stelzerl for pursuing excellence.

"Mourad is receiving a "spark" from me today, because he resolved an IT "incident" within 30 minutes of my phone call to him.  This incident was already assigned to three other IT specialists who could not resolve the problem, which was affecting me and 17 of my colleagues.  After more than a month of frustration, I called Mourad - even though the case was not assigned to him.  He resolved this so quickly because he took the time to LISTEN to me.  His pursuit of excellence has made 18 people very happy today!  God Bless Mourad!"

Thank you, kindly, Donna!"
