Nancy Weaver Received a SLU Spark!

Congratulations to Nancy Weaver, Behavioral Science & Health Education, who received a SLU Spark. Nancy was recognized by Ellen Barnidge, Behavioral Science & Health Education, for going above and beyond in her work at SLU.

"Dear Nancy, I want to acknowledge you with a SLU Spark because of your tremendous mentoring of undergraduate students. As your office neighbor I have heard the way you support, encourage, and challenge undergraduate students in their academic and life journey. You make the SLU community stronger because you believe in the potential of others and help them aware of their own potential - both through success and missteps. WOW! Your example has been important for me in how I mentor students. Keep setting the example for others and making our SLU community stronger."

Kirsten Thomas Received a SLU Spark!

Congratulations to Kirsten Thomas, of the Cancer Center, who received a SLU Spark. Kirsten was nominated by Emily Vogl, of the Cancer Center, for serving others.

"Kirsten could be recognized on any of the above categories, but in particular, she exemplifies serving others.  It is so clear how much she cares about her patients, and she ensures they get the care they need and deserve.  As the sole dietitian at the Cancer Center, Kirsten is a fierce patient advocate, team player, and vital to the treatment team.  Not only does she go above and beyond for patients, but she also brings such a positive spirit when interacting with colleagues, and I am personally so thankful to have her presence in the clinic."

Floyd Welsh Received a SLU Spark!

Congratulations to Floyd Welsh, of Career Services, who received a SLU Spark. Floyd was recognized by Kim Reitter, of Career Services, going above and beyond in serving the University.

Thanks for your hard work and dedication! You were instrumental in helping us reach our goal of the getting the highest attendance in the history of University career fairs!"

Dominic Ramires Received a SLU Spark!

Congratulations to Dominic Ramires, of Custodial Services, who received a SLU Spark! Dominic was recognized by Tonya Vernon, of IM-Infections Diseases, for going above and beyond in his work.

"Dominic is awesome!  Everyday he works so hard to help keep things functioning in the DRC.  Most recently, he went above-and-beyond to help us figure out a seating arrangement for an upcoming meeting.  He used his experience and expertise in logistics to come up with a recommendation that overcame some obstacles, met our Division Director's goals, and he even set-up the room as a live demonstration to present the concept.  He is always thinking outside the box about how to be the most efficient at his position. Thank you for all you do Dominic!"

Congratulations to those Celebrating Milestone Service Anniversaries!

We would like to congratulate those who are celebrating five or more years of service in the months of October, November, and December 2017!
Thank you for your service at SLU!

Sharilyn Bazile Received a SLU Spark!

Congratulations to Sharilyn Bazile, Political Science, who received a SLU Spark! Sharilyn was recognized by Emmanuel Uwalaka, Political Science, for selflessly serving others.

"I have  never observed Sharilyn Bazile wear any frown when asked by anybody for help beyond her workload as the department's administrative assistant. On August 14 I was moved by her usual selflessness, dedication, and attitude to work, when I arrived to our building around 8:00 am to start cleaning my office after a summer construction work. Sharilyn was already on the floor helping an ITS representative. I saw her carry bookcases from one office to mine to make room for a new occupant. I said, "no Sharilyn, you shouldn't be doing this!" She said, its okay, I can help. I took that over from her. She went from one office to another with lysol disinfectant cleaning desks and chairs.I was inspired by her. I borrowed the disinfectant and thoroughly cleaned my office. This was, indeed, the art of 'selfless mentoring'."

Ryan Baker Received a SLU Spark!

Congratulations to Ryan Baker, ITS, who received a SLU Spark! Ryan was recognized by Jim Greathouse, Learning & Development, for serving others and pursuing excellence.

"On Thursday, October 19, HR Learning & Development hosted the annual conference of  the Association for Talent Development, Saint Louis Chapter (ATD St. Louis).  There were several presenters in various breakout groups who needed tech assistance as well as the general sessions. Ryan made sure he was available for all the events, scrambling at the last minute to resolve technical needs people would request.  He was never more than a phone call away and arrived within minutes to resolve any issues.  His dedication to Serving Others as well as he desire for Pursing Excellence is a true example of what the SLU Sparks program is designed to recognize.  Thank you Ryan for making sure all the technical needs were so quickly resolved."
