Sarah Shun-lien Bynum will read her fiction as part of the Sheila Nolan Whalen Series. She is the author of two novels, Ms. Hempel Chronicles (2008) and Madeleine Is Sleeping (2004). In an interview, she explained that fairy tales play a strong role in her work because "they always walk that line between wonder and darkness." In 2010, she was named one of "20 under 40" to watch by The New Yorker.
The English Department will be hosting the event, which will take place on February 9 at 4:00 PM in Dubourg 409. All are welcome, and there is no sign-up necessary ahead of time.
